'The Bear' Star Jeremy Allen White Serves Season 3 Secrets! (Exclusive)
Hulu viewers have spotted a bear of an editing mistake.
In the fifth episode of The Bear's season three, there appears to be a continuity error in a scene where Richie (played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach) is talking on the phone to Jessica (Sarah Ramos) about Chef Terry (Olivia Colman) closing down her restaurant.
In the beginning of the clip, Richie is still wearing his wedding ring. However, after a brief cutaway, the camera pans back, and he is no longer rocking the gold band.
“Love a continuity mess up," one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter July 2. "One scene he has a wedding ring on, and after cutaway and back … no wedding ring.”
Another added, “The lack of continuity on The Bear 3×05. No ring, ring, no ring again.”
And while the mishap may seem minor, it's actually pretty significant to the plot. After all, Richie's wedding ring serves as a symbol for his inability to move on from his failed marriage to Tiffany (Gillian Jacobs), who he got divorced from prior to the start of season one.

In fact, his character notably removes his ring in a previous episode, showing he is finally coming to terms with his ex-wife getting engaged to a man named Frank (Josh Hartnett).

Editing error aside, Richie's inconsistent character growth in season three happens to be what Ebon loves most about the show, which also stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri.

“[I’m] glad that the portrayal of this character is not so basic and TV-like that he spends four and a half days at a Michelin-star restaurant and all of a sudden he gets like the Cinderella makeover and he’s somebody else," Ebon told Vogue in an interview published July 9. "I don’t buy that s–t.”
